Big canvases can be daunting for first time painters. This introductory acrylic painting class builds up confidence with pocket-sized projects. Participants will discover the medium through baby steps on a series of small canvases. They will be gently guided through the basic techniques and properties of the material, and learn to master and appreciate its flow, beauty and simplicity in the process.

Parents and kids are alike in a multitude of ways, including how they create art and express ideas. Spend an afternoon with your mini-me, learning colour mixing, compositional skills and brushwork. Ever wanted to photograph someone who caught your eye, or wondered how celebrated street photographers like the New York Times� Bill Cunningham to fashion blogger The Sartorialist manage to capture their subjects? This is the course for you.

Photographer Yian Huang will discuss reportage photography, focusing on the photographic narrative and how to capture the intimate moment. Practical topics include choosing the subject, introducing yourself, building rapport, establishing a point of view and working with the available light. Students should bring their own cameras. Cameras will also be available for a loan of $20.
